Description |
This landscape-oriented image depicts a fish market. At center, there is a stand with a seller (back to viewer) and a line of customers. The stand hangs four fish upside down from their tails and features a white circular shape above the fish. To the right, the first figure in line is a woman holding a bag labeled "Market." The line is fading at the end to vaguely refer to figures. Behind them is a pole with a sign on it (facing the back of composition). At the left of the composition, there are several fish boxes, one reads "Louisiana Fish Co." and the market sign reads "FISH BUFFALO." At BLC in pencil, "16/61 FRIDAY NIGHT" and embossed printer's mark. At BRC in pencil, "Pajaud '70" Edition #: 16/61 On verso: "This Lithograph is limited to 61 impressions of which this is number 16. It is an original work of the artist, not a reproduction. It is drawn on a plate by the artist and printed directly from his work, under his personal direction. This method, the most responsive of the graphic arts, is completely autographic, exactly duplicating the work the artist has drawn. The embossed "k" is the printer's mark. It indicates the approval of his work, guarantees the edition is limited as indicated and that the print is registered. Title: Friday Night. Artist: William Pajaud. Register No.: 2015. Heritage Gallery Publishers. 1970. Los Angeles." |
