Description |
This work is a black and white print in which the right half of the composition is dominated by two figures. One figure sits in a chair below the other. The top figure, which is mostly a full figure, rests their hands on the lower figure's shoulders. The figures are likely mother and child as indicated by the title. On the left side of the composition is an abstract oval shape that takes over most of the space. There are many shaded areas, some suggest movement. At BRC in pencil, "Pajaud '70;" at BLC in pencil, "16/20 TAKE MY MOTHER HOME" and the embossed printers mark. Edition #: 16/20 On verso: "This Lithograph is limited to 20 impressions of which this is number 16. It is an original work of the artist, not a reproduction. It is drawn on a plate by the artist and printed directly from his work, under his personal direction. This method, the most responsive of the graphic arts, is completely autographic, exactly duplicating the work the artist has drawn. The embossed "k" is the printer's mark. It indicates the approval of his work, guarantees the edition is limited as indicated and that the print is registered. Title: Take My Mother Home. Artist: William Pajaud. Register No.: 2015. Heritage Gallery Publishers. 1970. Los Angeles." |
