Description |
The work is a diptych depicting iron parts over an ocean background; they are catalogued as L2019.01.001L for the left and L2019.01.001R for the right. Each side depicts pieces of a clothing iron. These parts are numerically labeled, like a diagram. For the left piece, there are thirty parts, which are all mechanic and white. These pieces are all turned toward the right. At BLC in pencil: "7/38," followed by "Between Body," which is half of the title, the rest of the title and the artist signature are written on the second part of the composition at the bottom center and BRC respectively. Edition: 7/38. The right side of the work also has thirty iron parts, however, the majority of the pieces are African tribal and historical objects, and are all the color black. The iron plate and body (numbers 1 and 13 for both) remain exactly the same between both the left and right images. These pieces are all turned toward the left. At the bottom center, written in pencil is the second half of the title, "And Soul," followed by the artist's signature, "© Willie C 2018." |
